In Islam, a Muslim woman is required to wear a headscarf or clothes that cover her nakedness. So the hijab is not just a headgear. Many people misinterpret the word hijab.
They only think that the hijab is only limited to a head covering whose function is only to cover the hair.
Hijab is a Muslim's clothing that covers the parts of women's genitals. What is not part of a woman's nakedness is the palm of the hand and face.
So each headscarf is definitely a veil, but the veil is not necessarily the shape of a headscarf. The headscarf worn by a Muslim woman must cover the head, neck, chest and parts of a woman's body that are considered as jewelry for the woman.
Islam has obliged women to wear headscarves contained in the word of Allah QS. Annur verse 31. Where in this verse Allah commands Muslim women to extend their clothes to their chests.
When this verse was revealed, women at that time ran around tearing the window cloth and door cloth to cover their heads as headscarves. Thus responsive to the shahabiyas at that time in fulfilling the call of Allah SWT through His words delivered through Muhammad SAW.
Why does Islam require women to wear headscarves? Here are some reasons:
1. Hijab to glorify women
Women who wear headscarves are more guarded of honor than those who don't wear a headscarf.
The beauty of a woman's body that is addressed to men who are not her husband will not increase the honor and dignity of a woman, on the contrary it will usually only be material for conversation among women, imaginary material for sex of men who are not entitled to such beauty.
2. Headscarves keep women from immoral acts
The number of cases of sexual abuse leading to rape usually begins with the opportunity given by women to men who indeed have a desire when they see the beauty of women being opened.
So it's wrong if some women think that mistakes only lie with men with basket eyes. How many people who had no intention of becoming willing after seeing an opportunity.
3. Hijab for health
It turns out that headscarves are also useful for body health. Hijab can protect the body's skin from exposure to solar radiation which can lead to skin cancer. Women who always wear headscarves will usually be protected from direct exposure to sunlight.
4. Hijab for beauty
Hijab also has many benefits for the beauty of women. A woman who wears a headscarf is usually whiter than before she wears a headscarf. His hair will be protected from sunlight which can make hair become limp.
Why is a woman in Islam obliged to wear a headscarf? Because with the headscarf there will be various benefits that will be felt by the women themselves. There is no command of goodness in Islam unless goodness will be repeated to the perpetrators.
